My first pair of Jordans

In the summer of 1993 me and my parents went to Mallorca on holiday. At that time in my life I was already heavily into basketball in general, and Michael Jordan in particular. I had played basketball one or two years , my walls was plastered with Michael Jordan posters and Chicago Bulls memorabilia and I watched every bit of NBA showed on Swedish television. And let me tell you, that wasn't much... Swedish TV3 showed a 30 minute highlight show, once a week. Imagine being that into something and only getting the chance to follow 30 minutes of highlights once a week...

Anyway, back to the story. After several hours of trying to convince my parents in the blistering heat in Spain, I finally got my father to buy me my first pair of Air Jordans, the Air Jordan 8 Aqua.

I wore those kicks everyday, too school, to practice and sometimes to bed… Eventually my feet grew and I got to a point where I couldn’t wear them anymore without causing major toe injury. So, in the end my mom convinced me to give them away to a friend of the family. I still remember the feeling I got when I opened that box, smelled the suede and inspected the shoe in EVERY angle.

The AJ8 Aqua is a beautiful shoe and one day I’m going to buy another pair, mostly for nostalgic reasons but also because the color way is just amazing.

Here's a bonus picture taken just hours after I walked out of the sneaker shop with my first pair of Jordans.
